There are four categories of membership in the AGLSP: Full, Associate, Individual, and Fellow. Full and Associate Memberships are open to institutions only. Individual and Fellow Memberships are open to individuals.
Full Membership is open to institutions of higher learning offering Graduate Liberal Studies Programs, that have been an Associate Member for at least one year, and have attended at least one Annual Business Meeting. Full Members are voting members of the Association and may hold office in the Association. To qualify for Full Membership, institutions must meet a number of criteria and host a site review by a Full Member representative.

Associate Membership is open to all interested institutions and is a prerequisite for Full Membership. Associate Members are usually in the early phases of a GLS program: either they have recently established one or their institutions are committeed to creating one. Associate Members are non-voting members of the Association and are not eligible to hold office. They are invited to participate in Annual Conferences and the Annual Business Meeting.
Individual Membership is available to individuals with a professional interest in the purposes and goals of the AGLSP. Individual Members are non-voting members. They are invited to participate in Annual Conferences and the Annual Business Meeting.
Fellows are honorary, non-voting members. The title of Fellow is extended to persons who have provided substantial service to AGLSP.
